Amerikaanse coureur keert terug naar het circuit van zijn Formule 1-debuut voor zijn vierde sessie van het seizoen

Jak Crawford zal de Aston Martin AMR26 besturen tijdens de eerste vrije training op vrijdag tijdens de Mexico City Grand Prix van 2026. Deze run is de vierde keer dat de 21-jarige Amerikaan dit seizoen op het circuit verschijnt voor het team en voldoet aan de verplichte rookie-sessies.

Crawford neemt plaats in auto van Stroll voor Mexico

Crawford vervangt Lance Stroll voor de sessie van 60 minuten op het Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Hij reed eerder al in de vrije training tijdens de Grands Prix van Japan, Oostenrijk en België, met als beste resultaat een twintigste plaats op de Red Bull Ring.

De aankondiging kwam tijdens het weekend van de United States Grand Prix in Austin, het thuisraceweekend van Crawford. Sinds het einde van zijn derde Formule 2-seizoen heeft de coureur zich gericht op simulatorwerk en tests ter ondersteuning van de ontwikkeling van de power unit en het chassis van het team.

I'm really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the AMR26 in Mexico City. It's a special circuit for me as it's where I made my FP1 debut last year, so it's great to return with more experience under my belt.

I've learned a lot through my time on track and in the simulator this season, and I'm looking forward to putting that into practice. It's also special to be announcing this during my home race weekend in Austin.

Krack benadrukt Crawfords groeiende ervaring

Chief Trackside Officer Mike Krack verwelkomde de kans voor de jonge coureur en wees op de vooruitgang sinds zijn debuut op dezelfde locatie vorig jaar.

We are pleased to give Jak another opportunity in the AMR26. He returns to Mexico City with considerably more experience than when he made his FP1 debut there last year. His contributions through our simulator and testing programmes have been valuable, and this session provides another opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities while supporting the team's preparations for the weekend.
