Pierce Brosnan en Helen Mirren nemen het op voor Tom Hardy na geruchten over MobLand

De sterren noemen hun collega de onmisbare anker van de Paramount+-misdaadserie voorafgaand aan de première van het tweede seizoen.

Veteran actors and have spoken out in support of their co-star , dismissing earlier speculation about on-set friction and his potential departure from the Paramount+ crime series.

The pair addressed the reports in interviews with The Hollywood Reporter, emphasizing their strong backing for Hardy and rejecting any notion that the show could continue without him.

Brosnan Learned of Reports While on Vacation

Brosnan said he first heard the rumors through a text from one of his sons while away on vacation. He described the claims as surprising and quickly reached out to Hardy to express his support.

“I think we’re all blindsided by it, really. It was my son who sent me the text one morning. I was away on vacation, and I couldn’t believe it. I reached out to Tom, saying, ‘I love you, mate. I love you.’ And he and I, you know, we communicate. He’s a painter. I’m a painter. Both actors. But anyway, just to say, ‘I’m there. We’re there. We love you.’ So for me, it was kind of a storm in a teacup,” Brosnan told THR.

Mirren Quickly Countered the Speculation

Mirren had already posted a public message of support for Hardy on Instagram shortly after the initial reports surfaced in May. She told THR that addressing false rumors promptly is important, especially in a production built on mutual support among the cast.

False rumors just should be knocked on the head, ASAP, which is why I did my post about Tom, not for Tom, but my absolutely genuine love of Tom.

— Helen Mirren, Interview with The Hollywood Reporter

She noted that actors often face unfair blame in such situations and stressed the collaborative spirit on the series.

Hardy Remains Central to MobLand's Future

Both actors made clear they never entertained the idea of the show moving forward without Hardy. Mirren described him as the anchor holding together the chaotic world around his character, while Brosnan called him indispensable.

Tom is MobLand. Without Tom, we don’t have MobLand. He is the center. He allows us to play these crazy characters.

Series Details and Renewal

Created by , centers on rival London crime families, with Brosnan as patriarch Conrad Harrigan, Mirren as his wife Maeve, and Hardy as loyal fixer Harry Da Souza. The ensemble cast includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver and others.

Paramount+ renewed the series for a third season earlier this month, confirming Hardy's return. The 10-episode second season premieres September 18 on the platform, with new episodes streaming weekly on Fridays through the November 20 finale.
