Netflix verwerft wereldwijde rechten op Australische documentaireserie over schietpartij Kumanjayi Walker

Vierdelige serie van Blackfella Films gepland voor première begin 2027 na werelddebuut op TIFF Primetime

Netflix heeft de wereldwijde distributierechten verworven voor de Australische documentaireserie 2.6 Seconds: Death in the Outback voorafgaand aan de wereldpremière op het Toronto International Film Festival. De vierdelige productie is de enige documentaire die is geselecteerd voor het Primetime-programma van het festival.

Serie onderzoekt fatale schietpartij en de nasleep

Het project onderzoekt de twee schoten die in slechts 2,6 seconden werden afgevuurd en die de 19-jarige Kumanjayi Walker doodden, wat leidde tot brede discussies in Australië over justitie, politiewerk en raciale kwesties. De serie is geproduceerd door Blackfella Films voor SBS en NITV en baseert zich op uitgebreid onderzoek naar de brede gevolgen van het incident.

Premièreplannen en creatief team

Regisseur Darren Dale leidt het project, met Andrew Boe als schrijver en co-uitvoerend producent naast Jacob Hickey. De serie bereikt Netflix-abonnees wereldwijd begin 2027.
