Evenement van 16 tot 19 oktober in Hollywood opent met de eerste twee afleveringen van Dana Terrace-serie en toont gedurfde internationale animatie.

Animation Is Film keert terug voor zijn negende editie met een programma dat frisse stemmen en ambitieuze projecten van over de hele wereld belicht. Het festival loopt van 16 tot 19 oktober, met vertoningen voornamelijk in TCL Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood.

Knights of Guinevere opent het evenement

Voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van het festival presenteert de openingsavond de wereldtheatrale première van de eerste twee afleveringen van Dana Terrace’s aankomende serie Knights of Guinevere. De stap markeert een belangrijke debuut voor de maker van een van de populairste animatieseries van het decennium.

We’re thrilled to kick off another lively, animated weekend of the year’s very best with a special theatrical presentation of Dana Terrace’s Knights of Guinevere.

Competitietitels omvatten animatie uit de hele wereld

Several features join the program, including Leah Nelson’s Tangles, Louis Clichy’s Iron Boy en Ervin Han en Raúl García’s The Violinist. Additional selections feature Masanao Kawajiri’s Cherry and Virgin, Shingo Natsume’s Ghost – End of Night, Nicolas Athané and Marco Nguyen’s Jim Queen, Sébastien Laudenbach’s Viva Carmen! and Louise Bagnall’s Julián.

Otto Guerra, Érica Maradona, Tânia Anaya en Sávio Leite’s O filho da Puta (Son of a Bitch) also screens in competition.

Studio spotlight en speciale presentaties

Beyond screenings, the schedule includes studio presentations, retrospectives, filmmaker talks and works-in-progress. Audiences will get an early look at Walt Disney Animation’s upcoming feature Hexed, a theatrical presentation of Paramount’s Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender and Yoshiaki’s Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, plus a preview of Matt Braly’s Clara and the Below.

Continuing our commitment alongside Animation Is Film is a wonderful opportunity to extend, in Los Angeles, the international journey of the films and talents revealed and celebrated in Annecy.
