Peacock's hit mystery competition The Traitors extended its winning streak at the Emmys, securing the award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program for the third year in a row.

The series triumphed over strong contenders including ABC's Dancing with the Stars, MTV's RuPaul’s Drag Race, CBS' Survivor and Bravo's Top Chef during the ceremony.

Alan Cumming delivers heartfelt remarks on stage

Host Alan Cumming took the stage to accept the honor and expressed gratitude to supporters who allow the cast to venture into the Scottish Highlands for the production. He singled out his dog Lala for special mention.

Cumming praised the show's devoted and varied viewership. "The audience is so amazing. It is so diverse, and it’s just incredible the way you all get together and watch the show together. That is so beautiful. That a show about treachery and betrayal brings people together," he said.

He closed the speech with a direct appeal to American viewers ahead of voter registration deadlines. "Finally, tonight we have received the most votes, but tomorrow is voter registration day in this country. So please make sure you’re registered to vote, because the time for talk is over. It is now time to vote, America," Cumming added.

Series builds impressive award haul across categories

The victory marked The Traitors' seventh award of the year and brought its career total to 15 Emmys from 17 nominations. Cumming had already claimed the prize for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program the previous weekend, while the production also earned recognition in areas such as production design, cinematography, picture editing and costumes.

Format and season four cast details

Adapted from the Dutch series De Verraders, the show divides contestants into Faithful and Traitors groups. Alan Cumming selects the Traitors at the outset, who then eliminate Faithful members while concealing their identities. The Faithful work to identify and banish the Traitors during roundtable discussions. Any remaining Traitors at the end split the prize money.

Season four, filmed once again in Scotland, featured a high-profile cast that included Rob Rausch, Maura Higgins, Eric Nam, Tara Lipinski, Johnny Weir, Mark Ballas, Natalie Anderson, Kristen Kish, Stephen Colletti, Dorinda Medley, Candiace Dillard Bassett, Colton Underwood, Lisa Rinna, Yamil ‘Yam Yam’ Arocho, Ron Funches, Michael Rapaport, Monet X Change, Tiffany Mitchell, Caroline Stanbury, Donna Kelce, Rob Cesternino, Porsha Williams and Ian Terry.

Dramatic finale ends with surprise winner

The season concluded with a memorable finale in which snake-wrangler Rob Rausch, known from Love Island USA, outmaneuvered Love Island UK star Maura Higgins to claim the prize.

Production team and future plans

Studio Lambert produces the series. Executive producers include Cumming along with Stephen Lambert, Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess and Darrell Olsen. A civilian edition is also slated to air on NBC.
