Nieuw fonds van 40 lakh INR steunt opkomende Indiase onafhankelijke filmmakers

Humans of Cinema en Safarnaama Pictures lanceren coproductie-initiatief met mentoren Vishal Bhardwaj en Shaunak Sen

Een nieuw coproductiefonds van 40 lakh INR is opgezet om opkomende Indiase onafhankelijke filmmakers te helpen hun eerste speelfilmprojecten af te ronden. Humans of Cinema en Safarnaama Pictures hebben de krachten gebundeld voor dit initiatief, dat hands-on begeleiding van twee prominente mentoren omvat.

Vishal Bhardwaj en Shaunak Sen treden op als mentoren

Oscar-genomineerde regisseur Shaunak Sen en de gewaardeerde filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj zullen het geselecteerde project begeleiden. Sen zal ook als executive producer optreden voor de winnende film. Zijn productiebedrijf Kiterabbit Films draagt middelen bij aan het fonds.

Sterrenjury kiest het winnende project

Een panel van bekende namen uit de industrie kiest de ontvanger. Acteur Imran Khan, filmmaker Arati Kadav, producer Aman Mann van All That Breathes en festivaldirecteur Aseem Chhabra vormen de jury.

Oprichters lichten oorsprong en visie toe

Harshit Bansal, oprichter van Humans of Cinema, kwam in contact met Nazim Momin, de in de VS gevestigde ingenieur en producer achter Safarnaama Pictures, nadat Momin hem via Instagram benaderde. De partners willen een film steunen die goed presteert op het internationale festivalcircuit en tegelijk aansluit bij het Indiase publiek.

Wie kan zich aanmelden en volgende stappen

Alleen Indiase burgers van 18 jaar en ouder komen in aanmerking. Aanvragers moeten minstens twee korte films of één speelfilm hebben geregisseerd. De geselecteerde filmmaker ontvangt het volledige budget van 40 lakh INR plus productie- en distributiebegeleiding.
