David Nicholls schrijft achtdelige serie onder regie van Lenny Abrahamson voor Element Pictures

Matthew Macfadyen en Claire Foy spelen de hoofdrollen in de aankomende serie You Are Here, een achtdelige bewerking van de bestseller van David Nicholls voor de BBC en Starz.

Nicholls bewerkt zijn eigen roman voor televisie

Nicholls schreef de scripts zelf. De productie komt van Element Pictures, het bedrijf achter Normal People. Lenny Abrahamson, die die eerdere hit regisseerde, neemt de leiding over de nieuwe serie. Fremantle, het moederbedrijf van Element, bezit de internationale verkooprechten. De Maio Entertainment verzorgt het partnerschap met Starz, dat samen met de BBC het project heeft gecommissioneerd.

Opnames op de kust-tot-kustroute in Engeland

Het verhaal speelt zich af op de kust-tot-kust wandelroute die loopt van het Lake District naar Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire. De productie zal filmen in het Lake District en omgeving van Manchester.

Macfadyen en Foy als Michael en Marnie

De acteurs vertolken Michael en Marnie. Een gezamenlijke vriend brengt het tweetal samen en stuurt hen op een onverwachte langeafstandswandeling. Hun reis plaatst hen aan de rand van een relatie die geen van beiden had voorzien, maar die ze allebei nodig lijken te hebben.

Abrahamson noemde de roman een prachtig liefdesverhaal dat grappig, diepgaand en uiteindelijk diep hoopvol is. Element-oprichter en executive producer Ed Guiney noemde Abrahamson en Nicholls twee van de meest getalenteerde makers van dit moment.

Nicholls en Abrahamson treden op als executive producers samen met Foy, Macfadyen, Guiney, Andrew Lowe en Emma Norton voor Element Pictures. Jonny Richards en Anna Ferguson vertegenwoordigen de BBC. Clare Shepherd produceert de serie.
