Little Spark Films rondt opnames af van ya-mystery 'Bridgette Wrona and the Whisper Creek Murders'

Newcomer Amanda Huerta speelt hoofdrol in true crime podcastverhaal opgenomen in Arlington, Texas.

Independent production company Little Spark Films heeft de principal photography afgerond van de young adult mysteryfilm “Bridgette Wrona and the Whisper Creek Murders” in Arlington, Texas.

Mary Beth McAndrews regisseerde de film naar een scenario van Preston Fassel, gebaseerd op een concept van Cameron Hazelwood. Het verhaal draait om een twintiger die een true crime-podcast maakt en naar een afgelegen stadje in East Texas reist om de terugkeer van een lang slapende seriemoordenaar, bekend als The Flower King, te onderzoeken.

Volgens de persmaterialen van de productie presenteert Bridgette de populaire podcast “Hot Coffee, Cold Cases”. Haar laatste onderzoek brengt haar naar Whisper Creek, waar ze zowel de teruggekeerde moordenaar als herinneringen uit haar eigen plattelandsjeugd onder ogen moet zien. Iedereen in het stadje wordt een potentiële verdachte terwijl zij de waarheid probeert te achterhalen.

Newcomer Amanda Huerta neemt hoofdrol op zich

Amanda Huerta maakt haar speelfilmdebuut in de titelrol. Ze werd ontdekt via de “48-Hour Spark” shortfilmcompetitie van Little Spark Films. De bijrollen worden gespeeld door Lisa Gaye uit de “Toxic Avenger”-franchise, Kelli Maroney bekend van “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, Alexandra Broussard en Larissa Dali uit de “Becky”-serie.

While we were in pre-production, we also hosted a 48 Hour Film Race entitled ’48 Hour Sparks’ where our Office P.A.-turned-2nd-AD Jacob Harper had worked with Amanda. Seeing how quickly she was able to take on his 48 Hour film, ‘Music to my Ears,’ we thought she would fit the role as our confident hero.

Creatief team deelt visie op doordachte ya-genrevertelling

Scenarioschrijver Preston Fassel beschreef zijn doelen voor het project als het leveren van een non-IP-verhaal in de geest van klassieke young adult romans die jonge lezers als doordachte individuen behandelen. Hij hoopte dat de film een toegangspoort zou vormen voor tieners naar meer verfijnde genrecinema.

I had a few personal initiatives, including doing a YA story in the vein of what I grew up with — ‘Tuck Everlasting’, ‘Bridge to Terabithia’, ‘Maniac Magee’ — this non-IP, thoughtful approach that spoke to its audience as real people. Something that I’d show a theoretical daughter of mine, about a girl I imagine would be what that daughter would turn out like. And my hope is I’ve delivered a teen ‘Twin Peaks’ that mothers can use to introduce their daughters to David Lynch.

As a certified weird girl, now is the time for Weird Girl Cinema, and I couldn’t be more grateful to direct an entry into that growing pantheon. ‘Bridgette Wrona’ is a film for all the weirdos out there who are passionate, creative, smart, and a little different from the world around them. My hope is that teens will watch this and feel inspired to dive further into the world of genre films; we don’t get a lot of true gateway horror anymore! This is gateway horror for the girls out there who spend their days watching true crime videos and reading about serial killers.
