Sony Santa Monica verschuift Faye's solo-avontuur op de PS5 van februari om het team meer tijd te geven het spel te polijsten.

God of War Laufey verschijnt nu op 20 mei 2027 nadat Sony Santa Monica de PS5-exclusive uit februari heeft gehaald.

Studio bevestigt vertraging via social media

De ontwikkelaar deelde de update in een kort bericht op social media. Officials gaven aan dat ze de extra tijd gebruiken om Faye's verhaal verder te verfijnen, maar boden geen verdere details over het oorspronkelijke schema.

Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we've been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye's journey through the Everywhen. We don't take for granted the trust placed in the studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans. With this in mind, we've made the decision to delay God of War Laufey's release to May 20th, 2027. We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential. Faye leidt het eerste spel zonder Kratos als protagonist

Dit is de eerste game in de langlopende serie zonder Kratos als centrale figuur. In plaats daarvan volgen spelers Faye door een versie van het hiernamaals die bekendstaat als de Everywhen en waarin goden en figuren uit verschillende mythologieën samenkomen. De titel brengt ook de snellere combat uit eerdere delen terug.

Kratos keert terug en verbindt zich met toekomstige delen

Kratos verschijnt nog wel tijdens Faye's reis. De studio heeft aangegeven dat het volgende hoofddel met hem als hoofdpersoon direct aansluit op de gebeurtenissen in God of War Laufey.

Februari 2027 kent al diverse grote releases, waaronder de Fable-reboot, Persona 4 Revival en Metro 2039. De nieuwe datum kan de planning voor spelers met een grote backlog verlichten.
