Radio personality Bobby Bones has an empty shelf where his prized Dancing With the Stars trophy once stood. Six months after returning the Mirrorball following critical remarks from former host Tom Bergeron, the season 27 winner now hopes to reclaim the award after the two men cleared the air.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Bones revealed he acted quickly after feeling stung by Bergeron's comments. He explained that he sent the trophy back to ABC and no longer knows its location. The host added that he would welcome its return if anyone with access to it could mail it to him.
It'd be nice if I could get my Dancing With the Stars trophy back. I got my feelings hurt. I love Tom, and so, in a haste, I sent my trophy back to somewhere at ABC.
Bergeron, who hosted the show from 2005 to 2019, had described Bones' victory as his most shocking moment during a Parade interview last year. He noted the win left him saying ouch internally, though he stressed no disrespect toward the winner. Bones confirmed the remarks prompted him to return the trophy, citing hurt that came from someone he respected.
Bones and Bergeron later discussed the incident on the BobbyCast podcast. Bergeron apologized for the phrasing of his surprise and said he felt terrible that it led Bones to send the trophy back. Bones responded that his affection for the host never wavered despite the public comments.
I felt terrible that the way I phrased my honest surprise at your win... The fact that it hurt your feelings, and you sent your trophy back, I felt terrible about that.
The Dancing With the Stars story fits into a longer list of public spats among stars. Queer Eye cast members Bobby Berk and Tan France addressed rumors of a personal rift after Berk's exit from the show. France later clarified that casting decisions came through standard network processes rather than any campaign to replace a colleague.
Additional tensions have involved Sharon Osbourne and Ashton Kutcher, country artists Cassadee Pope, Maren Morris and Brittany Aldean, as well as JoJo Siwa and Candace Cameron Bure. Longer-running disputes include those between Courtney Love and Olivia Rodrigo, Henry Winkler and Tom Hanks, and Lauren Conrad with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.
Further examples feature Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson over Fast and Furious scheduling, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, Elton John and Madonna, Katherine Heigl and Shonda Rhimes, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, Kanye West and Taylor Swift, and Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez. Many of these conflicts eventually cooled or reached public resolutions.
