T-Series Films en Almighty Motion Picture werken opnieuw samen aan multi-seizoen drama 'The Tatas'

Adaptatie van Girish Kubers bekroonde boek gaat over in scriptontwikkeling en volgt vier generaties van India’s iconische industriële familie.

T-Series Films en Almighty Motion Picture werken opnieuw samen aan een nieuw project na hun succesvolle samenwerking aan de Amazon MX Player-serie “Made in India: A Titan Story.” De partners zijn begonnen met de scriptontwikkeling van “The Tatas,” een multi-seizoen drama gebaseerd op Girish Kubers boek “The Tatas: How a Family Built a Business and a Nation.”

Rechten verworven in 2022 stimuleren nieuw scriptwerk

De bedrijven verkregen in 2022 de audiovisuele rechten op het boek. Kubers werk won de Gaja Capital Business Book of the Year award en beschrijft de bijdragen van de Tata-familie over meer dan een eeuw.

Vier generaties vormen de verhaallijn

De serie volgt de Tata-lijn door vier verschillende tijdperken. Het begint met oprichter Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, wiens initiatieven onder meer Tata Steel, het Taj Mahal Palace Hotel en vroege inspanningen voor het Indian Institute of Science omvatten.

Vervolgens richt het verhaal zich op Sir Dorabji Tata, Sir Ratan Tata en Lady Meharbai Tata, met aandacht voor de uitbreiding van Tata Steel, de oprichting van Tata Hydro-Electric Power en de start van de Tata Trusts. Daarna komt de periode onder leiding van J.R.D. Tata aan bod, waarin Tata Airlines (later Air India), Tata Motors en de oprichting van Tata Consultancy Services in 1968 tot stand kwamen.

Het laatste deel behandelt de wereldwijde expansie van het concern onder Ratan Naval Tata, inclusief de opkomst van Titan.

“The Tatas” bevindt zich nog in actieve scriptontwikkeling. Aankondigingen over regie en casting worden later dit jaar verwacht, terwijl een streaming- of omroepplatform nog niet is gekozen.
