De serie verkent de wereld van elite junior tennisacademies, met onder meer de achtmaal Grand Slam-winnaar als executive producer.

Prime Video heeft een nieuwe dramaserie getiteld Rally besteld, die zich afspeelt in de intense omgeving van elite competitief tennis. Het project komt van schrijver en showrunner Julie Plec, bekend van The Vampire Diaries en We Were Liars, in samenwerking met Universal Television, Entertainment 360 en Amazon MGM Studios.

Tennislegende Andre Agassi sluit zich aan als executive producer, wat zijn eerste stap is in het produceren van scripted televisie.

Persoonlijke inspiratie achter de tennisacademiesetting

Het concept voor Rally komt voort uit de eigen ervaringen van Guymon Casady met de elite junior tenniscultuur via zijn kinderen op de IMG Academy. Plec is schrijver, showrunner en executive producer en bouwt een verhaal rond ambitieuze jonge atleten die te maken krijgen met isolatie en de persoonlijke prijs van excellentie in een veeleisende sport.

The inspiration for Rally came from a deeply personal place – watching my kids train and navigate the intense pressure, dedication, and heartbreak of elite junior tennis at the IMG Academy. To build this world alongside a master storyteller like Julie Plec, and to ground it in the unmatched, authentic perspective of a true legend like Andre Agassi, is a remarkable privilege.

Sterk productieteam voor Prime Video

De serie werd aanvankelijk ontwikkeld bij Universal Television onder Plec’s overall deal. Executive producers zijn Plec en Emily Cummins via Plec’s My So Called Company, samen met Casady, Agassi en voormalig tennisser Justin Gimelstob van Entertainment 360.

Dit project is Plec’s tweede serie voor de streamer, na de terugkerende dramaserie We Were Liars.

Agassi brengt authentiek tennisperspectief naar zijn rol als producer

Agassi werkt samen met zijn oude collega Gimelstob, die eerder de Apple TV+-documentaire Open over de carrière van de kampioen produceerde. Het duo wil de serie verrijken met echte inzichten uit hun tijd in het profcircuit.
