Eerste teasertrailer onthuld op Pokémon XP in San Francisco, Disney+ bevestigd als exclusieve streamingdienst voor lancering in 2027

The Pokémon Company International en Aardman hebben de eerste teasertrailer onthuld voor Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu, een nieuwe stop-motionanimatieserie die zich afspeelt in de Galar-regio.

De trailer debuteerde gisteren op Pokémon XP in San Francisco, in het kader van de Pokémon Wereldkampioenschappen 2026. Een panel met de titel Behind the Scenes with Aardman toonde het project aan fans.

Trailer geeft eerste blik op onwaarschijnlijke helden op een nobele queeste

De videobeschrijving schetst het uitgangspunt: "Join our unlikely heroes, Sirfetch'd and Pichu, in their gallant quest to protect Pokémon across Galar! While their missions might rarely go as planned, their noble deeds forge their friendship as they step bravely into the unknown. Peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon, and endless laughs await them."

De serie biedt nieuwe beelden van locaties en wezens uit de Galar-regio, waaronder Obstagoon en het gebied Crown Tundra, beide bekend uit Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Panel achter de schermen belicht poppen en productie

Tijdens het panel sloot Pokémon's director of original animation Phil Rynda zich aan bij Aardman-teamleden Tom Parkinson (regisseur), Nat McKay (creative director, IP development) en James Young (model-making creative lead). Ze bespraken de gedetailleerde poppen, decors en het productieproces van de serie.

Sirfetch'd has this wonderfully noble, slightly bumbling energy – determined to be the best knight in the whole of Galar. While Pichu is the playful, curious squire, and often, actual voice of reason. They really are best friends, and we think audiences are going to fall in love watching them stumble, succeed and help Pokémon in need along the way.

Aardman has brought Galar to life in a way that makes you feel like you can smell the air, touch the tree bark, and want to adventure alongside our series heroes.

Disney+ verwerft exclusieve wereldwijde rechten

Disney+ wordt het exclusieve wereldwijde streamingplatform voor de serie bij de lancering in 2027. Het platform heeft onlangs Pokémon the Series: The Beginning aan het aanbod toegevoegd.

Aardman viert jubileumjaar met Pokémon-project

De in Bristol gevestigde studio Aardman, die dit jaar zijn 50-jarig bestaan viert, zet met deze nieuwste samenwerking de traditie van kenmerkende stop-motionverhalen voort.
