Produced by Remarkable Entertainment, the format assembled 50 vocalists who competed without ever seeing one another. The goal was to create new groups through blind collaboration. Three live shows took place in late August 2024 before a studio audience in Manchester.
Former One Direction member Liam Payne joined Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls and Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child as mentors. AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys hosted the series.
The production filmed segments with Payne shortly before his death in October 2024. He fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina. Netflix later dedicated the completed series to his memory.
The four finalist groups — 3quency, SZN4, Soulidified, and Midnight Til Morning — have each released original music and completed tours since the series ended.
Netflix declined to comment on the decision. A source verified the cancellation to Deadline, noting that the news first surfaced in a report by The Sun in the UK.
