Jeff Rake keert terug met een nieuw creatief team voor verse personages die worstelen met geheugenverlies en een dreigende catastrofe in het populaire franchise-universum.

Netflix heeft een nieuwe serie besteld met de titel Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery als spin-off van het succesvolle drama Manifest. Het project komt meer dan drie jaar nadat de originele show zijn vierde en laatste seizoen afsloot.

Aankondiging gekozen op iconisch vluchtnummer

De streamer maakte de bestelling bekend op 28 augustus, bewust gekozen als verwijzing naar het centrale mysterie van vlucht 828 uit de oorspronkelijke serie. Het nieuwe verhaal speelt zich af in hetzelfde fictieve universum, maar draait om een volledig nieuwe cast.

Creatief team herenigt zich voor nieuw hoofdstuk

Jeff Rake, bedenker van Manifest, treedt op als co-bedenker en co-showrunner samen met scenarioschrijvers Margaret Easley en Laura Putney. Beide vrouwen werkten eerder als co-uitvoerend producent aan de originele serie. Tot de uitvoerend producenten behoren filmmaker Robert Zemeckis en Jack Rapke van Compari Entertainment, Len Goldstein van Tall Baby Productions en Jacqueline Levine. Warner Bros. Television keert terug als studio.

Logline onthult nieuw uitgangspunt met hoge inzet

De officiële logline luidt: “When a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve.”

Oorspronkelijke serie van NBC naar Netflix-conclusie

Manifest ging in 2018 in première op NBC en liep drie seizoenen voordat de zender de serie stopzette. De show werd opnieuw populair op Netflix, waarna de streamer een vierde en laatste seizoen bestelde dat in twee delen in 2022 en 2023 werd uitgezonden.
