Sales agency has taken on international rights to , the latest feature from Academy Award-winning director . The film has completed production and will launch at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Director Returns to Silent Storytelling

Hazanavicius revisits the silent format for the first time since his 2011 hit , though this new project unfolds in color. Described as a fantastique tale, the story centers on a young French soldier named Paul Marchand who sustains a severe wound during the Battle of Verdun in World War I.

He awakens in the laboratory of a deranged scientist who has attached a German hand to his abdomen, setting the stage for a surreal narrative blending horror, fantasy, and historical elements.

Ensemble Cast Leads the Way

The cast includes in the central role, alongside , , and veteran performer . Civil recently appeared in Beating Hearts, while Bejo is known for The Past and Marder for The Stranger.

Literary Adaptation and Key Creative Team

The screenplay adapts Arthur Dreyfus’s 2023 novel, with Hazanavicius collaborating on the script alongside writer-director , whose credits include The Animal Kingdom. Oscar-winning composer returns to work with the director, having scored his previous animated feature The Most Precious of Cargoes.

Cinematographer David Chambille, who earned a César Award this year for Nouvelle Vague, handles the visuals.

Production Backing and French Distribution

Hazanavicius produces through Les Compagnons du cinéma alongside longtime partner Florence Gastaud, with additional support from Patrick Sobelman. and France 3 Cinéma serve as co-producers, joined by Haris & Co, and backed by the CNC, Île-de-France Region, and Pictanovo.

Studiocanal will also manage theatrical distribution across France.
