De presentator van Weekend Update bij SNL neemt zijn nieuwe show op in First Avenue in Minneapolis, voorafgaand aan de première op 13 oktober.

De special, getiteld “Shot in Minnesota”, duurt een uur en gaat op 13 oktober in première. Che regisseerde het project, dat werd opgenomen in de First Avenue-zaal in Minneapolis. Hij is samen met Matthew Vaughan uitvoerend producent onder de vlag van Rotten Science.

Net na nieuwste SNL-seizoen

De release komt kort na de première van seizoen 52 van “Saturday Night Live”, waarin Che zijn rol achter het “Weekend Update”-bureau hervatte voor zijn dertiende jaar op rij, naast Colin Jost. Een voorproefje uit de special toont hoe Che de spot drijft met het huwelijk van zijn collega-presentator.

“Shot in Minnesota” volgt op Che’s eerdere Netflix-uitgaven: “Michael Che Matters” uit 2016 en “Michael Che: Shame the Devil” uit 2021. Daarnaast bedacht hij de sketchserie “That Damn Michael Che”, die twee seizoenen liep op HBO Max. Voordat hij bij “SNL” kwam, werkte hij kort als correspondent bij “The Daily Show”.
