Voormalig Amazon Studios-executive volgt Kathleen Matthews op na afloop van de 31e editie.

Marc Resteghini, executive producer van de aankomende serie Young Sherlock en voormalig executive bij Amazon Studios, is benoemd tot voorzitter van het bestuur van het Nantucket Film Festival.

Het op scenarioschrijven gerichte evenement rondde enkele dagen geleden zijn 31e jaarlijkse editie af op het eiland Massachusetts.

Leiderschapswisseling bij het Nantucket Film Festival

Resteghini neemt het over van Kathleen Matthews, die sinds 2011 voorzitter van het bestuur was. Matthews, voormalig televisiejournalist, corporate executive en activiste, heeft diepe wortels op Nantucket met haar echtgenoot, de voormalige MSNBC-presentator Chris Matthews.

Tegelijkertijd werd Milan Popelka benoemd tot vicevoorzitter. Popelka was eerder senior executive bij FilmNation Entertainment en werd in 2025 partner bij het productiebedrijf LuckyChap van Margot Robbie.

Uitvoerend directeur blijft in functie

Mystelle Brabbée blijft uitvoerend directeur. Zij begon in 1997 als programmadirecteur bij de organisatie en leidt de programmering al bijna drie decennia.

Resteghini brengt ruime ervaring uit de sector mee

Resteghini trad in 2024 toe tot het bestuur van het festival. Hij heeft momenteel een overall televisieovereenkomst en een first-look filmovereenkomst met Amazon MGM Studios. Tijdens zijn periode als hoofd televisieontwikkeling bij Amazon Studios hield hij toezicht op projecten als The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Summer I Turned Pretty en The Underground Railroad.

Popelka’s groeiende portfolio bij LuckyChap

In zijn nieuwe bestuursfunctie zal Popelka putten uit zijn verantwoordelijkheden voor business operations, finance, strategische planning en groeinitiatieven voor de wereldwijde film-, televisie-, muziek- en theateractiviteiten van LuckyChap. Daarvoor werkte hij meer dan vijftien jaar als chief operating officer bij FilmNation Entertainment, waar hij bij de oprichting aansloot.

Nantucket has always been a magical place for my family, and I can’t imagine a better way to begin each summer than by gathering on the island for the Nantucket Film Festival. For 30 years, the festival has celebrated the power of storytelling while championing extraordinary artists, fostering meaningful conversations, and serving as a cultural cornerstone of Nantucket’s vibrant arts community. It’s an honor to help lead the festival into its next chapter and to further strengthen its ties to Hollywood and the broader entertainment industry.

Resteghini and Popelka are two of the festival’s most passionate advocates, champions, and connectors. Over the years, they have each helped introduce the festival to extraordinary storytellers, foster meaningful industry relationships, and expand our reach in ways that continue to benefit the organization today.
