De genomineerden voor de 2026 MTV Video Music Awards plaatsen Madonna op kop met 11 nominaties voor haar album Confessions II.

De uitreiking wordt op 27 september live uitgezonden op CBS en de bekendmaking op 18 augustus zorgt meteen voor enkele opvallende duels.

Madonna en Taylor Swift strijden in belangrijke categorieën

Taylor Swift kreeg negen nominaties en neemt het direct op tegen Madonna in Video of the Year en Artist of the Year.

Een overwinning voor Swift zou haar op 30 Moon Person-awards brengen en gelijkstellen met Beyoncé als recordhoudster in de VMA-geschiedenis.

Ariana Grande en Sabrina Carpenter volgen de koplopers

Ariana Grande en Sabrina Carpenter kregen elk zeven nominaties.

Carpenter werkte samen met Madonna aan “Bring Your Love”, dat in meerdere categorieën is genomineerd.
