Indya Moore en dr. Annie Farmer treden toe als executive producers bij documentaire 'Watch You Rise'

De film over de wortels van seksueel geweld en instemming gaat in oktober in première op het Denver Film Festival met nieuwe steun voor een door jongeren geleide impactcampagne.

Isabella Cohn’s documentaire Watch You Rise heeft Indya Moore en Dr. Annie Farmer als executive producers toegevoegd. De film onderzoekt de wortels van seksueel geweld en gaat in oktober in première op het Denver Film Festival.

Nieuwe executive producers brengen persoonlijk perspectief en activisme

Cohn schreef de film samen met Maria Marrone. Elizabeth Woodward en Marina Hunt bij Willa produceerden de film, terwijl CAA de binnenlandse verkoop verzorgt. Cohn begon het project op haar zeventiende en groeide op terwijl ze verhalen onderzocht over seksueel geweld die haar moeders generatie, haar leeftijdsgenoten en haar eigen leven raakten. Cohn reflecteert op generatie Z die een crisis doorkruist zonder begeleiding

Cohn ziet de documentaire als een verslag van een generatie die vragen over seks en geweld onder ogen ziet zonder adequate hulpmiddelen. “Members of Gen Z, like myself, have been coming of age amid a relentless public reckoning with sexual violence. We were absorbing the headlines, the testimonies, and the debates at the same time we were navigating our own first sexual experiences. I kept coming back to one question: What does it mean to grow up inside a crisis that no one is teaching you how to navigate?” zei ze.

Cohn verwelkomt de betrokkenheid van Moore en Farmer. “Their advocacy against gender violence and their fearless work at the intersection of youth, identity and activism speak directly to what this film is trying to do: center young people not simply as subjects of these conversations, but as people with the insight and agency to shape them.”

Jongerenambassadeurs sturen landelijke impactcampagne aan

De film start met een impactcampagne genaamd “Let’s Talk Sex”, die jongerenambassadeurs traint om na de vertoningen discussies te leiden in het hele land. Moore en Farmer nemen deel aan panels en publieke gesprekken rond de vertoningen.

De campagne werkt samen met RAINN, de grootste anti-seksueel geweldorganisatie van het land en beheerder van de National Sexual Assault Hotline, en YWCA USA, die zich richt op raciale rechtvaardigheid en vrouwenemancipatie. Het werkt ook samen met het Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room, een tijdelijke kunstinstallatie en openbaar archief georganiseerd door het Institute for Primary Fact.

Deze inspanning komt te midden van een hernieuwde nationale discussie over seksuele voorlichting, instemming en gezonde relaties. In 2026 behield het federale Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program ongeveer $101 miljoen aan jaarlijkse financiering, ook al probeerde de Trump-administratie de subsidievoorwaarden aan te passen om onthouding te benadrukken.
