Conan O’Brien presenteert voor het derde jaar op rij de 99e Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has selected Conan O’Brien to host the 99th Oscars for the third consecutive year. The live telecast is scheduled for Sunday, March 14, 2027, at 7 p.m. ET from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with simultaneous streaming on Hulu.

Academy Leaders Praise the Returning Production Team

Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Lynette Howell Taylor made the announcement on Tuesday during Disney’s upfront presentations in New York. They highlighted the group’s strong track record after the last two ceremonies.

O’Brien’s producers Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney will also return for their third Oscars. Ross serves as a key member of the comedian’s longtime team, while Sweeney takes on writing duties.

The decision follows positive viewer response to O’Brien’s hosting turn earlier this year. Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich noted the host’s distinctive style has energized the broadcast.

Executive Producers Bring Extensive Live-Event Experience

Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will serve as executive producers for the fourth year in a row. Kapoor earned an Emmy for the 96th Oscars and has overseen major events including the Grammys and the Paris Olympics handover ceremony. Mullan, a partner at Done + Dusted, also won an Emmy for the 96th Oscars and previously produced the London Olympics ceremonies and several Disney live specials.

O’Brien’s Career Spans Decades of Late-Night and Podcast Success

O’Brien previously hosted Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and the TBS series Conan. He currently hosts the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and the HBO travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go. He has collected six Primetime Emmy Awards and 33 nominations overall, including recognition for his Oscars work.

Broadcast Rights Shift After 2028 Milestone

Disney retains rights to the Oscars through the landmark 100th edition in 2028. Beginning in 2029, the ceremony will air on YouTube and move to the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
