Lionsgate geeft groen licht aan het project waarbij producers Sam Raimi en Jordan Peele voor het eerst samenwerken.

Chase Infiniti heeft haar eerste filmrol gekozen na haar doorbraak in de Oscarwinnaar One Battle After Another. De actrice zal de hoofdrol spelen in het mysterieuze horrorproject Portrait of God, geregisseerd door de opkomende filmmaker Dylan Clark.

Chase Infiniti krijgt sleutelrol in nieuw horrorproject

Clark schreef het script samen met Joe Russo. Hoewel de plotdetails nog geheim blijven, biedt het verhaal een frisse benadering van religieuze horrorthema’s. Clark bracht eerder in 2022 een gelijknamige korte film uit die al snel miljoenen views online scoorde.

Het project had eerder een deal bij Universal, maar de studio trok zich eerder dit jaar terug. Lionsgate nam het project daarop over en gaf groen licht.

Sam Raimi en Jordan Peele vormen eerste producerpartnerschap

Een opvallende groep producers sluit zich aan bij het project. Sam Raimi komt aan boord via Ghost House Pictures, terwijl Jordan Peele meedoet via Monkeypaw. Dit is de eerste samenwerking tussen de twee prominente figuren in de horrorcinema.

Andere producers zijn Rob Tapert van Ghost House en Win Rosenfeld van Monkeypaw, samen met Russo. Romel Adam en Jose Cañas houden toezicht voor Ghost House, terwijl Chris Rosati executive producer is voor Monkeypaw onder zijn NAT20 Films-label.

Opkomend regisseur Dylan Clark breidt samenwerking met Lionsgate uit

Infiniti kreeg veel aandacht door Paul Thomas Andersons One Battle After Another, haar eerste speelfilm die zes Oscars won. Ze maakte daarvoor ook The Julia Set, die recent in première ging op het Toronto International Film Festival.

Clark bouwde zijn naam op met high-concept horror-kortfilms op YouTube die miljoenen views trokken. Voor Portrait of God maakt hij zijn regiedebuut met de reboot van The Blair Witch Project voor Lionsgate en Blumhouse Atomic Monster.

Scott O’Brien houdt toezicht op het project voor de studio. Dan Freedman verzorgde de onderhandelingen, terwijl Brandon Hill het project bij Lionsgate aanbracht. Clark wordt vertegenwoordigd door UTA, 3 Arts en Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. Infiniti wordt vertegenwoordigd door Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners en The Lede Company.
