Bad Bunny krijgt eerste Emmy-nominatie voor Super Bowl LX Halftime Show

Het optreden in 2026, grotendeels in het Spaans, krijgt in totaal negen nominaties ondanks kritiek van president Trump.

Bad Bunny kreeg zijn eerste Emmy-nominatie voor de ambitieuze Super Bowl LX Halftime Show die eerder dit jaar werd opgevoerd. De erkenning komt als directe reactie op critici, onder wie president Donald Trump, die op sociale media klaagde dat niemand de teksten begreep omdat het optreden grotendeels in het Spaans was.

De Television Academy gaf negen nominaties aan de productie. Bad Bunny, wiens geboortenaam Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio is, kreeg een enkele nominatie in de categorie Outstanding Variety Special Live. Hij staat twee keer op de lijst, een keer als presentator en een keer als supervising producer.

Sterke concurrentie in de live variety-categorie

Het door Bad Bunny geleide special staat voor stevige concurrentie voor de hoofdprijs. Andere genomineerden zijn The 83rd Annual Golden Globes op CBS, The 68th Annual Grammy Awards op CBS, The Oscars op ABC en The 78th Annual Tony Awards op CBS.

Technische en creatieve categorieën ook bekroond

De halftime-productie kreeg extra nominaties in verschillende behind-the-scenes categorieën. Daaronder vallen Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming, Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special, Outstanding Hairstyling For A Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Program, Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Special, Outstanding Music Direction, plus nominaties voor Technical Direction/Camerawork en Sound Mixing.
