Maandelijks YouTube-platform start op 15 juli met festivalhit die al wordt omgezet in een speelfilm

Anurag Kashyap en Vikramaditya Motwane hebben opnieuw de handen ineen geslagen om de korte film Incognito van scenarist-regisseur Ravi Muppa in de schijnwerpers te zetten. De film is de eerste release op het nieuwe YouTube-kanaal Oh Flip Shorts, dat uitsluitend korte films uitzendt.

Kanaal start met maandelijkse premières

Producer Ranjan Singh heeft het kanaal opgezet, met Kashyap als curator. Het platform brengt elke maand een nieuwe korte film uit en wil een vast publiek opbouwen voor onafhankelijke kortfilms.

Verhaal, cast en festivalroute

Incognito heeft Vikram Singh, Ayushi Nema en Dev Chauhan in de hoofdrollen. De film volgt een receptionist in een motel die financieel krap zit en extra geld verdient door verborgen camerabeelden van gasten te verkopen. Het verhaal draait om zijn innerlijke conflict wanneer hij beelden vastlegt van een vrouw die mogelijk slachtoffer is van mensenhandel.

De korte film is al vertoond op meer dan twintig internationale festivals, waaronder het Oscar-kwalificerende Palm Springs International ShortFest.

Filmmakers tonen hun steun

I’ve always loved short films as they are the first stepping stone for a director to test their storytelling style and give an actual practice to them of shooting a story. Continuing the same, this is our effort to showcase some excellent short films, curated by me and presented by filmmakers whose work I look up to. We’re glad to begin with ‘Incognito’ by Ravi Muppa, and very hopefully that it’ll be liked by the audience.

‘Incognito’ is gripping and beautifully atmospheric, a true blue genre short with an out of the box ending. Congratulations to Ravi and his team and I’m so happy that we can present this to the audience.

Speelfilmversie al in ontwikkeling

De plannen voor een speelfilmversie van Incognito zijn al in gang gezet. Invention Studios is toegetreden als coproducent naast Flip Films en Campfire Studios. Kashyap, Nicholas Weinstock, Divya Souza en Singh zijn als producers betrokken.

Muppa werkte eerder mee aan de ontwikkeling van films als Stree (2018), Bala (2019) en The Family Man (2019).

The film has been an incredibly special journey, and I’m deeply grateful to the producers, collaborators, and champions who believed in it and helped carry it forward. I’m especially excited that this is just the beginning, as we now look ahead to expanding ‘Incognito’ into a feature.
